Medicine in Remote Areas (MIRA) Refresher


This 3-day course sharpens skills, reinforces knowledge and brings students back up-to-speed. This short course has been created for those with a valid and in-date MIRA certificate.


QUALIFICATION: Endorsed by the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh). Conforms to the requirements of the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) Framework descriptor D – for nationally certificated non healthcare professional providers caring for patients as a secondary role, i.e., Police Officers in specialist roles, Fire Service IEC, equivalent UKSAR trained personnel, Enhanced Community First Responder.

This course provides 24 CPD hours, externally accredited by the UK CPD certification service.


This 3-day refresher course is offered for those with an in-date MIRA Certificate. This course is underpinned with the Medicine in Remote Areas certificate valid for three years.
